Summary

Oakland, CA

Brooklyn Basin is a master-planned community along Oakland’s waterfront that will provide over 3,100 new homes, retail, parks, and open spaces and will transform a formerly-industrial site on the Oakland Estuary into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood.

Paseo Estero and Vista Estero is the first phase of building affordable housing within Brooklyn Basin’s master development plan. The project is two buildings with 101 affordable family rental housing units and 110 units of affordable senior rental housing. Both buildings are 4 stories of Type V wood framing over at grade 2-story Type I concrete garages.

Nibbi Concrete performed the structural concrete portion for the project, consisting of  62,000 sq. ft. of 36” thick Mat Foundations, 123,500 sq. ft. of post-tensioned suspended slabs, shear walls and gravity columns.  In total, the team poured 13,100 cubic yards of concrete, which included 1,800,000 LBS of reinforcing steel.  Special thanks to Alamillo Rebar (Pacific Steel Group), Dolan Concrete Construction, Nationwide Shotcrete, Berkeley Concrete Pumping, and Cemex.
